CLEVELAND UNITING CHURCH UPDATE
Hi everyone, one thing is certain, we are living in uncertain times at the moment. Please make sure that you are taking care of yourselves and making the best decisions with regard to your health and well-being that you can.
As is the case with many churches the Uniting Church in Qld has advised us, and we agree, that the best way for us to be good community citizens is to halt our regular groups and activities including public worship.
It is a sad day when we find that out of care for one another we feel that we should not be meeting even though the two concepts seem to be at odds with one another.
At the same time as adhering to the best advice that our medical experts are offering, as a community of faith we continue to pray. We are praying for an end to the spread of this virus, as well as for those who are afflicted and for those who are working tirelessly to develop some sort of answer that will enable us to combat it. We remain faithful to the God who loves us and regards us family. You are invited to join us in such prayers should you feel drawn to do so.
I would also refer you to a prayer that I shared with some of our people earlier in the week which is attributed to Pope Francis. It reminds us of some of those things that we used to take for granted that we might look upon as being more precious in the future.
Take care and God Bless
Rev Peter Smale, Minister Cleveland Uniting Church
“Tonight before falling asleep,
think about when we will return to the street.
When we hug again,
when all the shopping together will seem like a party.
Let’s think about when the coffees will return to the bar, the small talk, the photos close to each other.
We think about when it will be all a memory but normality will seem an unexpected and beautiful gift.
We will love everything that has so far seemed
futile to us.
Every second will be precious.
Swims at the sea, the sun until late, sunsets, toasts, laughter.
We will go back to laughing together.
Strength and courage.
