The COVID-19 crisis has shown us how connected our world is. Many of our global neighbours are seeing cases – and deaths – climbing rapidly. Poor countries don’t have robust health systems or even basic services to fight disease. For example, more than three billion people in the world lack access to hand-washing facilities. While people live in crowded conditions with poor nutrition and little access to health care, pandemics will always find a home.
