Week 1, Sunday June 7th

Theme for this Sunday: Preparing Our Understanding for Mission 

This week we begin our journey through the first 17 chapters of the Book of Acts. We start with Acts 1:1-8 where the other, Luke, explains the reason for writing the book, its connection to Luke's Gospel, and set's the stage for what's to unfold in the narrative. In these verses we see Jesus preparing the disciples for what's coming at Pentecost and what role they would play in God's plan and purposes. 

Here are some questions to ponder regarding this passage:

  • What things are given to the apostles by Jesus?

  • In what way was the apostles' ministry unique to them?

  • In what ways does the apostles' ministry continue in the Church?
